Ten years ago I started a layering process with acrylics. The idea of layering the transparent and opaque hues atop each other reminds me of complexities of our lives. I believe that each one of us are divine creators, either intentionally or unintentionally.
I use symbolism throughout the artwork: Skulls of horses and livestock intersecting with my own features represent my connection to the farm I grew up on and the one I’m working on now. Flowers are blooming with radiance to signify my evolving power as a woman in the world. Hands forming a relationship with birth, death, and rebirth. The mandala and yoga symbols tie me to my limitless journey through spirituality.
